It is week 12 and the task was to create a manifesto to a subject of my choice. I decided to take about feminism and how we are judged by what we wear.
Women should feel comfortable in their appearance. Let us talk about how women are still judged by others when they walk down the street only because they choose to wear something different, do something different with their hair or make up, only because is not considered what typical women should look like. A stereotype of what women is, and this includes what she wears and how she acts still heavy exists throughout the world. It all starts from an early age when in schoolgirls have to wear skirts and boy’s trousers. The shop isles are easily distinguished between each other because one is clearly pink with dolls, and the other is blue with cars and interesting things to make. The same goes for clothes in the kids’ section, girl’s clothes are bright, colorful, and pink weather the boys, blue and nude. Once we grow up and we start to think for ourselves, we find the style that we like and if it is outside the normal stereotype box, we are seen to be different, only because as a society we grew up in thought us one thing and it is hard to see otherwise.

The website I looked at focuses on young women that are not able to do things because of their gender. If focused on school curriculum so boys respect girls from a young age. Accessing variety of apprenticeships like engineering for women and social care for men. Bringing awareness to unpaid women that are taking care of kids and family members. There are so many issues that have not been discussed there for it’s important to start somewhere and bring awareness to unlock young women’s unpaid work and build equal workplace and that is exactly what this website provides.

Feedback
Criticizing my work, I can tell that I wanted to talk about many different issues with I did in one big paragraph. Which made me jump from one topic to another. While not being too focused on one subject I have expanded myself into different areas. The main manifesto in this week was to talk about feminism and the fact that this still exists now.
While presenting my work I got great feedback from my teacher that I should do some more research into feminism, as well as to be focused on different areas rather than running around and putting all my thoughts into one sentence. I could look at different topics and then talk about them individual such as: queer community and feminism.
