Story telling

The task for this week was to tell a story using any kind of medium. The medium I chosen is my body and the story is, how you give everything to someone and they don’t give the same back. I have chose a song by Kareen Lomax-Hard Feeling. The aim of my story was to show that there are no hard feelings even when you give everything to someone and they don’t feel the same. I Booked a studio located in Camden Town, while listening to words and the ryththm I have choreographed the dance.

This is the link to my story:

Feedback: The video format is greta but what if I would have to perform live, how should I do it and where should I do it. would I need extra space.

Research: Dance can tell a story from when it starts to when it ends. There are many different stories that could be told. Dance in general is expressing ourselves and tells a story while many cultures hold celebratory, spiritual and traditional values. Some dances and their cultures include:

Haka-ype of ceremonial Māori dance or challenge. Is a celebration of life.

Kabuki- short comedic plays with bawdy and sexually suggestive undertones.

Royal Ballet of Cambodia (Khmer Classical Dance)-dance combines elaborate hand gestures and precise foot and leg positions to convey meaning and express emotion.

Barong- dance battle between good and evil.

Bahangra- farmers brought their dance to harvest-honoring cultural festivals.

Adumu-The warrior that jumps the highest earns bragging rights for his impressive display of masculinity.

Sufi Whirling (Whirling Dervishes)-a form of meditation for the dervishes, a mystical Islamic Sufi tradition.

Flamenco-flamenco is dance of intense concentration and emotion which centers around complex foot stomping.

Tango-two partners hold each other in a close embrace as they glide across the floor to a waltz played on accordion.
